Engineering A New Rigid Axle without any Interference with the Truck’s Cab for ISUZU

Customer

ISUZU – Leading medium-sized bus and coach manufacturing companies in Europe whose major shareholders are the Anadolu Group from Turkey, and Isuzu Motor Limited and Itochu Corporation from Japan

Product

RFS 41-175 rigid front axle

Challenge

The main challenge was to engineer a new rigid axle that would not have any interference with the truck’s cab, and to avoid any modification on the cab.

Furthermore, there were some performance targets to be fulfilled like max steering angle to be performed in correct Ackerman geometry, longer tire service life, axle weight, integrating unit-hub-bearings etc.

Our Engineering Solution

BRIST integrated a new semi dropped rigid front axle to their existing truck with uprated front axle load.

Our Value Add to Customer

Axle rating target of 4.1 tonnes was achieved at reasonable axle weight with 52 degrees steering angle enabled Isuzu to uprate their platform for increased payload and has been in serial production since 2012 after all bench tests done in-house at BRIST test centre according to BRIST validation and test criteria’s based on our technical know-how.
